Finca Canopus
2023, El Cepillo - Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
Profile & Story
Chenin Blanc from calcareous soils and cool climates is not so common in Argentina. This wine, from a high-trained, free-form parcel, offers a full-bodied and mineral Chenin Blanc. The grapes come from half a hectare plot at Finca Canopus in El Cepillo, Mendoza. These grapes are crushed in the field in 500-liter tanks, fermented with the skins (which remain for about 10 days), and then aged in used barrels for 12 months.
Tasting Notes
Finca Canopus is a wine marked by its acidity, texture, and the vibrant character that arises from these combined aspects. It is slightly cloudy and dark yellow. The nose offers floral notes such as chamomile, broom, and yellow iris, along with a subtle but distinct salinity. On the palate, it is precise, medium-bodied, and has a sharp edge. It has a slight oxidative character, a multi-layered texture, and a completely dry finish. Very flavorful, almost saline.
