About the Wine
Hand-harvested, meticulously sorted, and gravity-fed into stainless steel open-top fermenters. Fermented with native yeasts, utilizing gentle punchdowns and occasional pumpovers for optimal extraction. Select vineyard blocks underwent 25–35% whole-cluster fermentation to enhance aromatic complexity, structure, and depth. Aged in 27% new French oak.
Tasting Notes
A luminous ruby hue hints at the wine’s energy, transparency, and vibrancy. The nose opens with elegant floral aromas of violet and delicate lilac, intertwined with layers of black currant, gooseberry, and wild raspberry. Subtle herbal undertones, particularly the signature cool garrigue character of the Sta. Rita Hills, add depth and intrigue. On the palate, the wine unfolds with an expressive, mouthwatering entry, gradually building in intensity to reveal earthier nuances and hints of spice—red peppercorn and cumin seed. The tannins are fine-grained, polished, and structured, providing a refined framework for aging. While still exhibiting youthful restraint, this wine will gain complexity and generosity with 1–5 years of cellaring.
