Red Slate Riesling Dry
Riesling
Dr. Loosen
About the Wine
A well-balanced dry Riesling from estate vineyards that show the distinctively forceful minerality of red slate soils. Following the traditional methods of Ernst Loosen's great-grandfather, Peter Loosen, this wine is fermented in 3,000-liter, neutral oak casks and kept on the full lees for 12 months. The extended lees contact stabilizes the wine naturally and gives it time to develop a harmonious balance.
Tasting Notes
The nose is greeted with floral, spicy, and citrus blossom aromas, complemented by hints of grapefruit, tangerine, and herbs. On the palate, the wine is lively and juicy, exhibiting flavors of green apple, pear, and a stony minerality. The wine is well-balanced with a powerful structure and rich fruit, harmoniously integrated with the fine acidity typical of the Mosel region.
Pairing Notes
This dry Riesling pairs excellently with seafood, charcuterie, and dishes featuring root vegetables or squashes. Its sharp acidity and mineral backbone also make it a great match for spicy Asian dishes.
