About the Wine
Lewis Vineyard surrounds the home of grower Gregg Lewis, who has collected cuttings from various vineyards in California and Europe to cultivate in the Clements Hills. A sub AVA of Lodi, Clements Hills has distinctly different soil from the sandier flats around it, while sharing the hot climate of the Central Valley. Iron rich decomposed granite makes up the majority of the mix, while the mostly Spanish and Italian grapes are well suited for the heat. As in the past, the 2023 Rosado is 100% Tempranillo, early picked to retain a pleasing tartness. The naturally fruity Tempranillo grape lends a strawberry rhubarb character. The grapes were left on skins for four hours before undergoing a slow press cycle to bring out the rosy color. It was then fermented and aged in a stainless steel tank, where it underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation. 25ppm total SO2 WINeFare attendees use WINEFARE15 to receive a discount on online purchases
