About the Wine
Our first vintage at the estate gave us the opportunity to start exploring the characteristics of each of the blocks. We selectively hand picked, sorted and fermented in small, open top tanks each sub-block of the vineyard. This gave us insight into the characteristics of the soils and clone selections on the property. It was also a year to start planning the renaissance of the vineyard with a no compromise approach to growing the most expressive, authentic wines from the estate. Thoughtful use of stem inclusion (whole cluster) was done on certain fermentations to add complexity and texture. After a short cold soak period, the fermenters were allowed to warm to allow for spontaneous (natural yeast) fermentations. Tanks were punched-down during fermentation. The wines were pressed, keeping press wine separate and completed Malo-lactic fermentation and aging in French Oak, with a small percentage being new.
Tasting Notes
Discover the quintessence of Sta. Rita Hills in this exquisite Pinot Noir blend, where the allure of classic aromatics mingles effortlessly with hints of violet and wild bramble. Crafted from the sandy soils of 10 Ninths, this wine exudes a playful levity and vibrant energy, counterbalanced by a profound depth and brooding weight that captivates the senses. Each sip reveals a complex aromatic evolution, enhancing persistence on the palate. More structured than the Sequence cuvée, it pairs perfectly with a meal yet stands magnificently on its own.
