About the Wine

Our first vintage at the estate gave us the opportunity to start exploring the characteristics of each of the blocks. We selectively hand picked, sorted and fermented in small, open top tanks each sub-block of the vineyard. This gave us insight into the characteristics of the soils and clone selections on the property. It was also a year to start planning the renaissance of the vineyard with a no compromise approach to growing the most expressive, authentic wines from the estate. Thoughtful use of stem inclusion (whole cluster) was done on certain fermentations to add complexity and texture. After a short cold soak period, the fermenters were allowed to warm to allow for spontaneous (natural yeast) fermentations. Tanks were punched-down during fermentation. The wines were pressed, keeping press wine separate and completed Malo-lactic fermentation and aging in French Oak, with a small percentage being new.

Tasting Notes

With a profound, rich hue, the Vertex blend offers an intriguing palette of aromas, featuring toasted notes alongside bramble, and a compelling strawberry-rhubarb coulis. This wine unfolds with a sophisticated evolution on the palate, structured around medium, fine-grain tannins that weave seamlessly with integrated acidity, ensuring both freshness and depth. The aromatic profile is classically Pinot Noir, with a distinct presence of floral and bramble elements, complemented by the earthy essence of tilled soil and fresh wood. Skillfully balanced use of new oak frames the wine, not only enriching its texture and flavor but also enhancing its potential for aging gracefully.
