Absolution Cellars Wicked Sensation
2020, Willow Creek District, Paso Robles, USA

About the Wine
A "TGS" (That Good Stuff) Blend - 57% Tannat and 39% Grenache from Paso Robles' famed Willow Creek District, home to top-scoring wines from heavyweight producers like Saxum, Booker, Denner, Clos Selene, and Torrin, plus a tiny dollup (4%) of Hermitage-clone Syrah from Chalone. The Tannat and Grenache were fermented and aged separately for a year and then joined in barrel with the Syrah to integrate for almost 2 more years before bottling.
Tasting Notes
A rich and complex full-bodied wine starting with a Deep Purple hue; the aromas take one back to the old world – think rustic Italy, with hints of black cherry, orange peel, crushed cinnamon, and cocoa powder; featuring notes of cherry cordial, toffee, blackberry, white pepper, figs, leather, vanilla bean, and menthol eucalyptus, with a silky mouthfeel balancing the chalky tannins and firm acidity; it finishes long and smooth with ripe fruit, allspice and cinnamon.
Pairing Notes
This will pair well with smoked duck breast, a richly marbled ribeye, and chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce…or a nice cigar!
