Walter Scott Wines was founded by Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon with the goal of capturing the depth and energy of Oregon's Willamette Valley in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Ken's apprenticeships at St. Innocent, Patricia Green Cellars and Evening Land Vineyards -- and time working alongside Dominique Lafon -- shaped the site-driven philosophy behind the winery, based in the Eola-Amity Hills. La Combe Verte is Walter Scott's multi-vineyard Chardonnay bottling, historically drawing on estate and grower sites such as Freedom Hill, Hyland, Koosah, Sojeau, X Saxa and Witness Tree vineyards. It is fermented with 100% ambient yeast and taken through full malolactic conversion in French oak (228/350/500L) with minimal batonnage, then lightly filtered before bottling. In recent vintages it has spent about 10 months in barrel with roughly a quarter new oak, finishing fully dry.
