Profile & Story
This Malagousia comes from Alpha Estate's 'Turtles' vineyard on the Amyndeon plateau in northwestern Macedonia, Greece, planted at 670 meters altitude with a northwestern exposure facing Mount Voras. The grapes are destemmed, optically sorted and lightly crushed, then given skin contact before a controlled alcoholic fermentation in temperature-jacketed stainless steel tanks, with the wine kept on its fine lees for two months with regular stirring.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant light yellow in color with greenish tints, the wine opens with a strong, lively nose typical of Malagousia — rose petal and floral aromas, sweet spices, melon and lychee with a touch of honeysuckle. The palate is round and mellow, fat but balanced.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs well with green salads, baked vegetables, pasta, low-fat fish, and a wide variety of Greek seafood meze. Best served around 11°C (52°F).
