Mitravelas Estate, based in Nemea in the Peloponnese, focuses on Agiorgitiko and aims to show the full range of styles the variety can take. 'Red on Black' is a 100% Agiorgitiko PDO Nemea bottling made without any barrel influence, offered as a fresh, youthful expression of the variety.
Tasting Notes
Red-violet in color, with aromas of gooseberry and pomegranate on the nose alongside intense fresh cherry and berry, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is round and youthful, a juicy mix of herbs and cherry with soft, velvety tannins, finishing with notes of spice and butter caramel.
Pairing Recommendation
Good with pizza, grilled meats, and light red-sauce dishes, as well as moussaka and oil-based vegetable dishes, cheese soufflé, and rooster in wine sauce. Also enjoyable on its own. Best served slightly cool, around 12–14°C.
