Val St. Pierre is produced and bottled by Les Celliers Jean d'Alibert, named for the Abbot Jean d'Alibert appointed to Caunes-Minervois by King Henri IV in 1598 — an early entrepreneurial figure in the region who helped bring Minervois marble and wine to global markets, a legacy the estate continues by exporting its terroir worldwide. This Chardonnay is sourced from selected vineyards around Carcassonne and the Minervois on clay-limestone soils; roughly 30% is fermented and aged on lees in French and American oak barrels for six months, with the remainder vinified in stainless steel.
Tasting Notes
Pineapple and apple fruit with a subtle hint of oak and a touch of mango and ginger; light-to-medium bodied, dry, and fresh.
