Profile & Story
Château La Gaffelière, a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate in Saint-Émilion still owned by the descendants of the Comte de Malet-Roquefort, takes its name from 'gaffet' (leper), after a 17th-century leper colony once on the site. Dame de la Gaffelière, launched in the mid-1980s as the estate's second wine, is vinified in its own dedicated cellar.
Tasting Notes
Merlot-led (roughly 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc in recent vintages) and aged in once- or twice-used French oak for 10-12 months, offering the estate's Right Bank character in an earlier-drinking style.
