Quinta do Ataíde, in the remote Vilariça Valley of the Douro Superior, is owned by the Symington family (of Graham's, Dow's and Warre's Port). The Quinta played a historic role in the 1970s rebirth of Touriga Nacional, when Miguel Côrte-Real grafted cuttings from pre-WWII vines found on the property. Vinha do Arco is 100% organically farmed Touriga Nacional from the 81-hectare estate's low-rainfall, cold-winter, hot-summer site; part of the fruit ferments in new French oak with manual 'macaco' punch-downs.
