Terras de Lava is produced by the Cooperativa Vitivinícola da Ilha do Pico on the volcanic Azorean island of Pico, whose vines grow in currais — hand-built basalt enclosures that shelter the plants from Atlantic winds while trapping volcanic heat. The Branco blends Arinto dos Açores with Verdelho (plus a small amount of Fermão Pires), fermented separately by variety and aged on fine lees for several months.
Tasting Notes
Aromatic and floral from the Arinto, with dried peach, honey and beeswax notes; round and velvety on the palate with the salty, mineral edge typical of Pico's volcanic soils.
