Altos Las Hormigas is a Mendoza, Argentina winery built around the guiding idea of letting the land speak — a philosophy of allowing terroir, rather than heavy winemaking, to define the wine. Best known for Malbec, the estate also produces ALH Blanco, its only white wine, a blend of Chenin Blanc, Pedro Giménez, and Semillon (proportions vary slightly each vintage) sourced from pergola-trained vines on the deep limestone soils of San Carlos and Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley. Each variety is harvested early to preserve acidity and vinified separately — some on their skins, some with a portion of whole clusters — using native yeasts in concrete vats, then aged six months in concrete with no oak.
