Profile & Story
Founded in 1638, Kopke is the oldest Port house in continuous operation, a heritage the estate frames as bringing experience and insight to each vintage. This Late Bottled Vintage comes from hand-picked, destemmed, and crushed grapes macerated in temperature-controlled vats at 28–30°C until the desired sweetness is reached, then fortified with grape brandy and aged four to six years in wood before bottling.
Tasting Notes
Deep, dark purple with a vibrant ruby rim, the wine shows ripe wild berries on the nose alongside violet, black pepper, and a hint of eucalyptus leaf. The palate has firm tannins and vibrant, crisp acidity, finishing long with raspberry, blackberry, and apricot.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs excellently with dark chocolate and wild berry desserts, mint chocolate cheesecake, and medium-flavor cheeses. Best served at 16–18°C.
