Profile & Story

Mario Lucchetti began growing Lacrima di Morro d'Alba in the 1980s in Morro d'Alba, in Italy's Marche region near Jesi, and released the first vintage of Fiore in 1991. The estate farms organically across fourteen hectares. Fiore is 100% Lacrima from vines fifteen to twenty years old on a south-east-facing site at 180–220 meters elevation, hand-harvested in late September at low yields. The wine is gently crushed after destemming, ferments in temperature-controlled steel with daily punch-downs over fourteen days, and completes a natural malolactic fermentation before roughly three months in steel and three more in bottle.

Tasting Notes

Lacrima di Morro d'Alba is prized for its intensely aromatic character, typically showing ripe red fruit like cherry and blackberry alongside notes of rose and mild spice, with a soft, well-balanced palate and gentle tannins.
