Profile & Story
Pascal Janvier came to winegrowing later in life — he trained originally as a butcher before turning to viticulture at thirty — and has since become a central figure in the revival of Jasnières, the small, cool-climate appellation at the northern edge of the Loire Valley. He and his family farm sixty-six separate parcels totaling about nine hectares entirely by hand. This wine is 100% Chenin Blanc grown in the neighboring Coteaux du Loir appellation, one of the most northerly and coldest pockets of the greater Loire, known for producing some of the region's most age-worthy dry Chenin Blanc.
Tasting Notes
Exotically perfumed with notes of guava, musk, and clove, the wine finishes dry and distinctly flinty, with the racy acidity and mineral drive typical of Chenin Blanc from this cool, northern stretch of the Loire.
