Profile & Story
Škegro Family Winery is a small estate in Radišići, a village near Mostar in the Herzegovina wine region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Bariša Škegro. The family's two hectares of south-facing, terraced vineyards were planted in 2005 on calcareous marl, sandstone, and flint soils, in a Mediterranean climate only an hour from the Croatian coast. This dry white wine is made from 90% Žilavka, Herzegovina's signature indigenous grape, with 5% Bena and 5% other local varieties. The grapes are pressed and given an overnight cold maceration, fermented in stainless steel, and aged on fine lees for six to eight months with periodic stirring.
Tasting Notes
The wine is clean, fresh, and pure, with flavors of honeydew melon, stone fruit, and salted grapefruit, balanced by bright acidity and a chalky minerality that leads into a subtle bitter-almond finish.
