Vins el Cep was founded in 1980 in Espiells, in Catalonia's Penedès region, when four neighboring winegrowing families — the Carreras, Esteve, Masana, and Parera — combined vineyard holdings that in some cases date back to the 15th century. The estate converted to organic farming in 2001 and to biodynamic viticulture in 2003, and in 2006 produced Claror, the world's first biodynamic Cava. The winery's guiding philosophy is to craft wines and Cavas that express the identity of the Penedès terroir through sustainable, land-first farming. This Gelida bottling is a Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Cava, made entirely from white grapes and finished without dosage, in the traditional method typical of the appellation.
