Thierry and Céline Tissot represent the fifth generation of a winegrowing family in Vaux-en-Bugey, in the Bugey appellation of eastern France near the Jura. When Thierry took over the domaine in 2000, he committed the estate to wine exclusively, replanting the abandoned Mataret vineyard, a three-hectare parcel on steep, clay-calcareous slopes facing southwest. Céline joined full-time in 2016 as an agricultural engineer and enologist, and together they completed organic certification in 2019 before incorporating biodynamic practices. Their approach favors patience and authenticity over immediate appeal, and they are active participants in local cooperatives and efforts to preserve the region's traditional grape varieties. This Bugey Rosé is made in the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle) from the estate's native Bugey varieties.
Tasting Notes
Traditional-method Bugey rosés of this style are typically pale pink with fine, persistent bubbles, showing fresh red berry and citrus notes with a crisp, dry finish — a lighter, more mineral style of French sparkling rosé.
