Profile & Story
Stéphane Ogier took over the family domaine in Ampuis from his father Michel in 1998, after oenology studies in Burgundy and winemaking experience abroad, and has built a reputation for bringing the precision of his native Côte-Rôtie to wines across the northern and southern Rhône. Le Temps est Venu ("the time has come"), introduced in 2010, is Ogier's venture into the southern Rhône; the white bottling is a parcel selection from about seven hectares of vines around Visan, blending Grenache Blanc (60%), Roussanne (20%), and small proportions of Bourboulenc, Marsanne, Clairette, and Viognier. The whole-bunch fruit is vinified in temperature-controlled concrete vats using indigenous yeasts.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows lifted citrus and white peach fruit with a saline snap on the finish, offering surprising freshness and minerality for a southern Rhône white.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs well with grilled fish, shellfish, and lighter Provençal or Mediterranean dishes.
