Profile & Story
Les Hautains is the organic line of Cave de Crouseilles, a growers' cooperative in the Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellations roughly 40km from Pau in the Pyrenean foothills. The name recalls a 19th-century local practice of training vines high on wooden poles ('hautains'); the estate farms 25 certified-organic hectares, with this Madiran built mainly from Tannat alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Tasting Notes
Deep, brilliant garnet color with black fruit, blackberry jam and licorice on the nose; a soft, silky palate of ripe fruit, sweet spices and subtle vanilla, reflecting Tannat's structure softened by the estate's winemaking.
