Profile & Story
Cantine Benvenuto is a small Calabrian winery founded by Giovanni Benvenuto, who moved from Abruzzo and revived his grandfather's vineyards in Francavilla Angitola and Pizzo Calabro (Vibo Valentia), focusing on the rare native Zibibbo di Pizzo — a grape nearly extinct in the area. The estate farms organically, hand-harvests into small boxes, and works almost exclusively with native varieties (Zibibbo, Malvasia, Greco Nero, Magliocco). "Orange" is 100% Zibibbo (Moscato d'Alessandria), late-September manual harvest, spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel with about 40 days of skin maceration, aged in stainless steel, unfiltered; 13% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Luminous powder-pink/orange color; intense, complex, and mineral nose, with spices and balsamic hints; fresh, elegant, and well-balanced palate with a soft finish and persistent character.
Pairing Recommendation
Full meals, especially seafood and shellfish, and mozzarella di bufala DOP. Serve at 12–14 °C in a tulip glass.
