Profile & Story

Punset is a historic estate in Neive on a hill overlooking the village, run by Marina Marcarino — a fifth-generation winemaker who took over in 1982 and converted the estate to organic farming in the 1980s, making Punset the first Italian estate to receive organic certification. She has since embraced biodynamics and the agronomic philosophy of Masanobu Fukuoka, with a cellar approach of "letting the vineyard speak" by avoiding selected yeasts and enzymes. For the Langhe Arneis, grapes are hand-harvested into perforated boxes; about 50% are destemmed and undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, then the juice is combined with juice from soft pressing. Slow fermentation occurs at 18–19 °C, optionally followed by malolactic fermentation, then bâtonnage on noble lees for 7–8 months.

Tasting Notes

Golden hue with intense floral notes opening to fruit and honey, recurring on the palate with good body, persistence, and balance; complex and well-structured, with light acidity giving a pleasant fresh note.
