Profile & Story
Hourglass, Napa Valley (Calistoga). Winemaker Tony Biagi; vintners Jeff & Carolyn Smith with the Chilton & Clark families. Sourced from the Hourglass Estate, Larkmead Lane, Varozza, and Gamble Ranch vineyards on gravelly Cortina river-wash soils. Blend: 91% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon, aged in a mix of stainless-steel tanks (40%), seasoned oak barrels (45%), and new French oak (15%).
Tasting Notes
Equally textural and refreshing, with primary aromas of tropical and stone fruit: mango and guava complemented by Meyer lemon, lime zest, and orange blossom. On the palate, crisp Granny Smith apple, zippy lemon balm, and honeyed nectarine intertwine with hints of brioche and wet-stone minerality; frequent lees stirring adds mid-palate richness against vibrant natural acidity for a well-balanced, harmonious finish.
