Profile & Story
Ridge Vineyards, Sonoma County (Lytton Springs / Monte Bello). Three Valleys, released continuously since 2001, is Ridge's exception to its single-vineyard philosophy: a careful blend of parcels from complementary Sonoma vineyards (ten in 2023). Grapes are hand-harvested, then crushed and fermented on native yeast and naturally occurring malolactic bacteria at both Monte Bello and Lytton Springs. Zinfandel determines the wine's varietal character; old-vine Carignane contributes bright fruit and acidity; Petite Sirah adds spice, depth of color, and firm tannins. Blend: 71% Zinfandel, 16% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah, 2% Mataro, 2% Alicante Bouschet. Aged 12 months in 100% air-dried American oak barrels (19% new). 14.6% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Ruby red color, blackberry and raspberry on the nose. Medium-bodied with smooth tannins, plum fruit, and a note of vanilla on the finish. Moderate summer temperatures allowed the fruit to mature slowly and develop the deep flavors for which Sonoma is known.
