Profile & Story

Albino Armani is a family winery based in Dolcè, in the province of Verona, producing wines across three northern Italian territories: Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. This Sauvignon comes from Alta Grave in Friuli, where the mountains framing the vineyards moderate temperatures and bring constant winds and considerable day-to-night temperature shifts. The producer describes it as a wine of fascinating nuances, in which floral notes of elder, magnolia, and Mediterranean herbs meet citrus scents — a complexity matched by a long, persuasive palate. The grapes grow in the Magredi at the foot of the Carnic Alps on loose, aerated soil rich in the calcareous white stones known locally as “Claps.” Vinification is low-yield, with manual harvesting and cold maceration before fermentation, carried out partly in stainless steel and partly in wooden casks, followed by long ageing on the lees for about 12–14 months and further bottle ageing before release.

Pairing Recommendation

Perfect with fried and raw fish — especially prawns, oysters, and sea truffles — and ideal with baked fish dishes, omelettes, or quiches enriched with aromatic herbs. Serve at 6–8 °C.
