Profile & Story

Casa d'Ambra (D'Ambra Vini d'Ischia) is a historic family winery on the volcanic island of Ischia, in the Bay of Naples, Campania. For around 130 years and across four generations the family has produced wines from Ischia's native grapes; the estate is run today by winemaker Andrea D'Ambra, supported by his daughters Marina and Sara. Ischia Bianco DOC is a blend of Biancolella (50%) and Forastera (50%) from vineyards on Ischia, chiefly in the municipalities of Forio and Serrara Fontana, on volcanic, medium-textured soil rich in potassium and phosphorus. The vines are trained as low espalier in the island's traditional style; the grapes are hand-harvested in the second-to-third week of September and made by white vinification with cold settling of the must and temperature control through fermentation, storage, and bottling.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow. Vinous, intense, and delicate on the nose. Dry and fair-bodied on the palate.
