Clos des Mûres
2023, AOP Languedoc , France
Profile & Story
Importer: Independence Wine & Spirits of NY Grape Variety: 90% Syrah, 10% Grenache Noir Paul Mas wines are the result of a harmonious symbiosis between an extraordinary region for grape growing, a passion for the vineyard, respect for the fruit during vinification, and the art of blending and ageing — this is the Paul Mas style. It is on the banks of the Hérault, at the foot of Château Paul Mas in Pézenas, that the legend of Vinus the heron began. Château Paul Mas encompasses three vineyards: 39 hectares in Conas dedicated to IGP wines; 81 hectares in Montagnac (Vignes de Nicole, Clos de Savignac, and Clos des Mûres); and 42 hectares in Caux (Clos du Moulinas) for AOP Languedoc, Grès de Montpellier, Pézenas, and IGP Pays d’Oc wines. The cuvée Clos des Mûres, the emblematic wine of Domaines Paul Mas, takes its name from the brambles that once surrounded this small parcel where the famous cuvée was first created in 2000. Since then, the success of this wine has led to an extension of its production area beyond the original clos.
