Barone di Villagrande is a historic family estate on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, in the Milo area at about 700 metres, overlooking the coast of Taormina. The Nicolosi family has cultivated vineyards here since 1727, refining their craft over ten generations while keeping the estate at a family-winery scale. The producer describes Sicily as a land of contrasts, and this Etna Bianco Superiore as a reflection of it: the perfume suggests dry, clean sensations softened by floral and white-pulp fruit notes, while the first sip is fresh and direct yet enveloping. It is made in the Contrada Villagrande from Carricante (about 90%) with roughly 10% other native Etna varieties, fermented in steel and bottled around ten months after harvest.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw yellow, bright and dense. On the nose, persistent floral and white-fruit aromas, overall harmonious and elegant. On the palate, strong acidity with elegant drinkability and a persistent minerality.
Pairing Recommendation
Perfect with shellfish and raw fish, but also with more decisively flavoured dishes and cheeses up to medium ageing. Serve at 8–10 °C.
