Profile & Story
M. Chapoutier's roots date back to 1808, making it one of the oldest houses in the Rhone Valley; the estate's modern renown grew from Michel Chapoutier's arrival in 1990. Belleruche, meaning beautiful beehive in French, takes its name from the bees and hives that thrive in the estate's sustainable vineyards, grown on pebbly clay soils and stony clay terraces.
Tasting Notes
Mainly Grenache and Syrah, fully destemmed and fermented in concrete and stainless tanks for 3 to 4 weeks with daily pump-overs, then aged 6 months in concrete vats and stainless steel, unoaked. Deep garnet red in color, with an intense, fruity nose of blackcurrant and raspberry complemented by white pepper; the palate is juicy, powerful and fruity with lovely roasted notes and silky, delicate tannins.

A classic match with young milk-fed lamb.
