Dom Perignon's roots trace to 1668, when Dom Pierre Perignon was appointed procurator at the Abbey of Hautvillers; the house releases a vintage only when a year's harvest meets its standard, aging every Vintage a minimum of 8 years on lees under chef de cave Vincent Chaperon. The 2017 vintage -- released new in early 2026 -- is a blend of 61% Chardonnay and 39% Pinot Noir and is described by the house as the smallest blend in its modern history (roughly 15% of a standard harvest) after a hot, dry summer and late-August rain sharply reduced usable fruit.
