Domaine (Michel) Barraud is a Maconnais estate in Vergisson, Burgundy, specializing in Chardonnay from the Macon-Villages, Pouilly-Fuisse and Saint-Veran appellations, farmed since 1912 and now run by the Barraud family. Their Macon-Villages fruit is drawn from parcels in Macon-Chaintre (clay-sandstone, planted 1990), Macon-Fuisse (limestone-flint, southeast-facing, planted 1985) and Macon-Vergisson (white chalk at 380m, planted 1982/1985), sourced from vines over 25 years old at 200m+ altitude on clay-limestone soil; the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel with indigenous yeast, with roughly three-quarters vinified in wooden tuns and the remainder in tank for the Chaintre component.
