Profile & Story

Casa Vinicola Coppi has been making wine at Turi, on the road between Turi and Gioia del Colle in Puglia, since 1882. The house tells its story through Antonio Coppi, whose passion and knowledge passed to his children Lisia, Miriam and Doni, all born and raised in this corner of Puglia; the family credits their constancy with making the Coppi name a byword for quality and with helping trigger the rediscovery of the territory, from a dream begun more than forty years ago. Siniscalco is named for Riccardo Siniscalco, the Norman feudal lord of the castle at Gioia del Colle. It is 100% Primitivo grown on calcareous soil and trained to espalier, picked from the end of August into September, fermented at controlled temperature and taken through a complete malolactic fermentation that leaves it velvetier on the palate and more stable over time.

Tasting Notes

A vivid, bright red in the glass. The nose is quite intense and persistent, fruity with hints of black berries. The palate is dry, soft, sapid and full-bodied, with fresh acidity and firm tannins, and a velvety texture.

Pairing Recommendation

Baked ham in bread crust, little meatballs in cream sauce, sausage and potatoes, game, cured meats and aged cheeses.
