Profile & Story

Fiamme is not an independent winery but a brand owned by Bacchanal Wine Imports of New York, representing the family's own hand in choosing the wines. The selection is made each year in close collaboration with winemakers and producers across several Italian regions so that consistency and quality hold from vintage to vintage. The name, Italian for flames, was chosen out of nostalgia and love for tradition: just as a fire has to be lit and kept burning, the beautiful traditions that are slowly disappearing have to be kept alive. The range is produced in Italy with Botter, a third-generation family firm with nearly a century of history that works with qualified growers from the Veneto to Sicily. This Riserva is 100% Montepulciano, hand-picked and gently pressed, with twelve to fifteen days of skin contact, then twelve months in 120-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks and at least a further twelve months in bottle before release.

Tasting Notes

Deep purple, with pungent aromas of black plum and jasmine. The palate is full and rich, framed by firm tannins and fresh acidity, with flavours of mocha, black cherry compote and creamy vanilla ending on echoes of dried herbs and a long, elegant finish.

Pairing Recommendation

Full-flavoured country cooking, from venison or rabbit stew, ossobuco and roast leg of lamb to spaghetti with a spicy tomato sauce, pasta with sausage, peppers and onions, or roast duck with green peppercorn sauce.
