Profile & Story

Marenco is a family estate at Strevi, in the Bagnario Valley of Alto Monferrato, whose history runs back to 1925 and Michele Marenco's wish to make wine from his own vineyard in the valley. The property still centres on those original Strevi holdings, land particularly suited to Moscato and Brachetto, and extends to vineyards at Fontanile and Castel Boglione near Nizza where Barbera has been grown for centuries. The two wild mallards in the company logo were drawn from the lake at the family's Bassina estate. Every wine comes from indigenous grapes grown in the family's own vineyards and is bottled at the estate, farmed under a sustainable agriculture commitment. Strev is 100% Moscato Bianco from the Strevi cru, hand-selected and picked in early September, softly pressed and naturally clarified, then fermented in pressurised vat with fermentation halted by filtration at five percent alcohol to leave a delicate perlage, with no sugar added.

Pairing Recommendation

Low in alcohol, it works as a natural thirst-quencher at any hour and as a dessert wine par excellence, and it also lends itself to less obvious combinations with appetizers, raw fish and sushi.
