Profile & Story

Domaine Nudant traces its roots in Burgundy back to 1453, when Guillaume Nudant was already making wine in the era of Charles le Téméraire. In 1747, André Nudant was born in Aloxe and worked his vines in Ladoix; it was a later André who, in 1950, expanded the estate into its modern form. His son Jean-René joined him in 1978, and roughly a generation later Guillaume, the current generation, made his debut. Across the centuries the family has carried the same conviction to always do well, applying force and determination to their vinework as each generation writes its own page in the domaine's history. Based in Ladoix-Serrigny, the domaine produces both red and white Burgundy. Its Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comes from a 0.15-hectare parcel in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses, also known as Charlemagne, one of the six Grands Crus of the Côte de Beaune and recognized as one of the finest white wines in the world. Planted entirely to Chardonnay, the 40-year-old vines face west/southwest at an altitude of 350 meters, grown at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare on a subsoil of white shale, with annual production limited to 800 to 900 bottles. This is a wine built for patience, needing long aging and resting time to reach its full potential, with a keeping potential of 10 to 20 years depending on the vintage.

Tasting Notes

True to the style of this Grand Cru, expect a powerful, structured white Burgundy that rewards patience, gaining richness and mineral-inflected depth with extended cellaring.

Pairing Recommendation
