Profile & Story
Partida Creus was founded by the Italian couple Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, who left city life and an architecture practice behind to settle in the small village of Bonastre, in the Baix Penedès area of Tarragona, Catalonia. There they found abandoned vineyards planted with nearly-extinct native varieties and made it their mission to rescue these old vines and turn them into honest, natural wine. At Partida Creus everything is done by hand, from pruning the vines - with the help of a donkey and a mule - to spontaneous fermentation in the cellar, with no chemical products used at any stage; for them, Partida Creus is not just a winery but a way of understanding wine as a link between nature and the people who enjoy it. CL Clarete is their take on clarete, a traditional Spanish style made by blending red and white grapes; this version is produced by co-fermenting two parts Garnatxa Blanca with one part red Garnatxa. It is fermented in stainless-steel tank using the grapes' own wild yeast, remains unfiltered and unclarified, and is bottled by hand; it contains only the grapes' natural sulfites, with none added.
