Profile & Story

Bodegas Mas Alta, founded by a group of Belgian partners in the village of La Vilella Alta, farms steep, slate-soil vineyards in Priorat, Spain, with guidance from consultants Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie. Black Slate is part of a village-focused project applying a Burgundian sense of terroir to Priorat, with each bottling named for its home village.

Tasting Notes

Deep and concentrated, with blue and red fruit, floral and spice notes; the structured tannins and mineral drive typical of Priorat's llicorella slate soils.
