Calalta Undercover Merlot 2023

Calalta is an artisanal, organic viticulture and winemaking project on the hills at the foot of Monte Grappa in the Veneto, led by Nicola Brunetti and his partner Giulia since 2017. Their 16-hectare estate mixes vineyards with forest, olive groves and meadow to support biodiversity. Undercover is 100% Merlot, hand-harvested from organic vines at 180 meters on red, flint-rich clay soils; part of the fruit is destemmed and fermented in a wooden tank with indigenous yeast, part ferments by carbonic maceration, and the wine is aged partly in stainless steel and partly in a 31-hectoliter wooden tank for nine months.
