Profile & Story

Les Clos Perdus was founded in 2003 by Australian winemaker Paul Old in the village of Peyriac-de-Mer in the Corbieres, built from isolated parcels of old vines scattered across the hillsides of the Languedoc and Roussillon, farmed biodynamically. Cuvee 191 -- the estate's first wine -- is a blend of 50% Carignan, 35% Grenache and 15% Mourvedre, sourced mainly from the Corbieres Maritimes with occasional additions from the Hautes Corbieres for tension. It is fermented with indigenous yeast, basket-pressed after 21 days on the skins, aged 9 months in stainless steel on fine lees, and bottled without fining or filtration.

Tasting Notes

Bright damsons, sour cherries and earth on the nose, soft tannin, a light, vibrant, floral lift, with good complexity and length.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs well with grilled meats, stews and aged cheeses.
