Château Le Gardera takes its name from the Gardera family, owners during the reign of Louis XIV; the current château was built around 1850 under Napoleon III. Bordeaux négociant Cordier acquired the property in 1951, keeping the vineyards but ceding the château and park, which became a hostel for schoolchildren and apprentices. Today the estate belongs to the Gonfrier family (Philippe and Eric Gonfrier), on a rocky spur overlooking the Garonne with one of the region's most celebrated views. The 16-hectare vineyard has been farmed organically since 2010. The Bordeaux Supérieur red is an assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
