The 50 Degree Riesling is produced under the oversight of Schloss Johannisberg, which has cultivated Riesling since 817 AD and describes itself as the master house of Riesling for over 1,200 years, credited with founding the world's first single-varietal Riesling estate. The cuvee takes its name from the Rheingau's position on the 50th parallel, sourced from south-facing, quartzite-rich slopes sheltered by the Taunus hills and moderated by the Rhine.
