Profile & Story
Tenuta Guado al Tasso is Marchesi Antinori's coastal estate in the Bolgheri DOC on the Upper Maremma, about 100 km southwest of Florence; the 1,000-hectare property (320 ha under vine) sits in the plain known as the "Bolgheri amphitheatre," cooled by steady sea breezes. Vermentino was first produced here in 1996 to revive one of the Tyrrhenian coast's indigenous aromatic varieties. Grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, then fermented in stainless steel at 16°C; individual vineyard lots are evaluated separately and blended before bottling. Multiple harvest passes in early-to-mid September balance freshness and complexity.
Tasting Notes
Straw yellow with greenish hues. Fresh aromas recall the Bolgheri coast, with sensations of flowers and white peach, citron peel, and hints of aromatic herbs such as sage and thyme. The palate is pleasantly balanced between freshness and savoriness.
