Profile & Story

Pèppoli is Marchesi Antinori's Chianti Classico estate, located 5 km northeast of Tenuta Tignanello and covering about 100 hectares; first produced in 1985, with part of the harvest vinified at the Antinori nel Chianti Classico cellars since 2013. The wine is a blend led by Sangiovese with complementary varieties, each harvested and vinified separately (destemmed, gently crushed, alcoholic fermentation at 26-28°C in stainless steel, with 10-12 days of maceration for Sangiovese and up to two weeks for the other varieties). After malolactic fermentation completes in winter, the blend ages in large Slavonian oak botti with a small percentage in barriques and stainless steel.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby red color. The nose is vibrant and expressive, offering fresh notes of cherries, raspberry jelly, and pomegranate juice with floral sensations of violets and geraniums. The palate is lively and dynamic, with an energetic entry leading to a juicy, flavorful mid-palate and a long, savory finish characterized by soft, sweet tannins.
