Profile & Story

Domaine Chatelain has been in the Chatelain family since 1963, when they settled in Pouilly-sur-Loire; today Vincent Chatelain, the 12th generation, directs the estate, which farms vineyards across the Pouilly-Fumé, Pouilly-sur-Loire and Sancerre appellations of the Upper Loire Valley. The Sancerre Sélection is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown on a soil selection of roughly 80% clay-limestone with 20% flinty "caillottes" from the Verdigny, Sury-en-Vaux and Chavignol sectors, from vines averaging 20 to 30 years old. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks (16-18°C) to preserve freshness and aromatic purity. The wine is 13.0% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Bright pale gold with vivid green highlights. An elegant, expressive nose offers rich aromas of ripe lemon and fresh grapefruit. The palate is pleasant and well-balanced, with subtle minty notes adding freshness and complexity, finishing long and refreshing with a lasting impression of citrus and minerality.

Pairing Recommendation

White meats in cream sauces, poultry, fish, shellfish, and fresh goat cheese.
