Profile & Story
Sul Vulcano Etna Rosso is Donnafugata's Nerello Mascalese from the northern slopes of Mount Etna (Randazzo municipality), eastern Sicily. It ages roughly 18 months partly in tank and partly in second- and third-use barriques, followed by a minimum 18 months in bottle before release. ABV is 14%, acidity 5.2 g/L, pH 3.57.
Tasting Notes
Pale ruby red in color, with spicy and fruity hints of sour cherry complemented by fresh balsamic and forest floor notes. Fruit and spice characteristics carry through on the palate alongside silky tannins.
Pairing Recommendation
Mediterranean appetizers with eggplant and mushrooms, roasted or boiled meats, and baked fish; also pairs well with a range of international and fusion cuisines.
