Villa Antinori was first crafted in 1928 by Marchese Niccolo Antinori as the flagship wine of the Antinori family, one of Tuscany's oldest winemaking dynasties (26 generations). This Toscana IGT Rosso is sourced from grapes grown, matured and harvested across the Antinori family's Tuscan estates, with a strong link to Villa del Cigliano in San Casciano Val di Pesa (Florence), owned by the family since 1546. The blend is built on Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet, harvested sequentially from early September through early October. Fermentation runs temperature-controlled at 25-26C for about a week, followed by roughly 10 additional days of maceration with careful pump-overs. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in French and Hungarian oak barriques.
