Whispering Angel is Chateau d'Esclans' flagship, globally the reference bottling for Provence rosé, made from Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle (Vermentino) and Syrah grown around the Esclans Valley in Cotes de Provence. Grapes are night-harvested and optically sorted, softly crushed, chilled, and pressed with minimal oxidation; free-run juice is fermented and aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel with twice-weekly battonage. ABV is 13%.
Tasting Notes
A pale, pleasing color draws the eye; the taste profile is full and lush while remaining bone dry, with a smooth finish. Critics have called it "deliciously creamy and smooth" (James Suckling) and "sensational and stunningly balanced" (Matthew Jukes).
